Are you Saul or Samuel?…

1 Samuel 3:5-10
And he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” But Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down. Again the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” “My son,” Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him. A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’ ” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

1Samuel 15:30-33
Saul replied, “I have sinned.(AH) But please honor(AI) me before the elders of my people and before Israel; come back with me, so that I may worship the Lord your God.” 31 So Samuel went back with Saul, and Saul worshiped the Lord.
32 Then Samuel said, “Bring me Agag king of the Amalekites.”
Agag came to him in chains.[c] And he thought, “Surely the bitterness of death is past.”
33 But Samuel said,
“As your sword has made women childless,
so will your mother be childless among women.”
And Samuel put Agag to death before the Lord at Gilgal.

Remember Samuel? To me Samuel represents God’s order, God’s instruction, God’s plans, God’s detail, God’s perfection. Remember when God told Samuel to tell Saul he was to kill every Amekelite? And he didn’t. Then Samuel came and told him how bad he messed up. What was Saul thinking? He certainly wasn’t doing it out of evil, he was going to have an offering for God after all. Well, I guess that doesn’t matter does it. We owe God nothing, what can we possibly give him that He hasn’t created. I wonder if Saul was acting on his own intuition, (did that hit you) sometimes we tend to cross our wires when it comes to following God’s instruction and plan or acting on our own behalf. Samuel knew how to follow God’s instruction, how do we know, well, right after letting Saul know of the travesty he had caused he called for the king and he took his sword and killed him. He didn’t explain himself, he didn’t have any word to say, simply God had spoken and Saul didn’t follow through, therefore leaving Samuel to act on what God had instructed. I can totally picture Samuel faithful to God just fuming at the report that Saul didn’t follow God’s plan. I can see Samuel walking in and just doing exactly what God wanted him to do without a doubt and without lingering. Do you linger? After you hear God speak? Has he ever asked you to do something or say something and you lingered? Or waited around to see if it was really God (which in most cases He will ask us to do what we least want to do) Have you ever started to follow God’s instruction and then threw in your two cents? Or thought if you changed something it would be better? I know I have. Didn’t turn out well, because I didn’t follow the instruction and because honestly how is my plan better than my Creators. How do we become like Samuel? We do what he did. Even at the beginning Samuel didn’t recognize God’s voice, but when he was told it was God and then God called again, he answered. If we’re not sure if it’s God’s voice it’s okay to ask for guidance and it’s okay to ask God to keep calling our name, but we must always answer, unwavering of what our instructions are. What happens when we do? We become aligned with our Creator, we leave room for Him to move in our lives and He  anoints us to greater things. Whatever God is asking you to do, do it. If He’s been calling your name and you haven’t answered, ask Him to call you one more time and be prepared to say, Speak, for your servant is listening. It’s all starts at the beginning of God’s instruction.
Father in Heaven, Most high God, wonderful Creator, forgive me for interfering in your plans, forgive me for not answering to your call immediately, forgive me for running towards other things faster than I do to you. Lord I am here to say, Speak. Lord give the wisdom and discernment I need to follow through on your commands. I want to hear your voice so distinctly that I do not miss it. I thank you and I receive your forgiveness because that is who you are. Thank you. In Jesus name Amen.

Welcome…

Ephesians 2:8
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
Titus 2:11
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
1 Timothy 4:12
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
Philippians 4:9
Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Proverbs 22:6
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
Luke 15:10
In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Has God ever given you a revelation that kind of just stopped you in your tracks and made you ask for forgiveness for your foolishness. Today, as I worshipped I had a  reminder of one. When I started my walk of faith I remember I would get so upset when I’d be praying or in worship and someone would interrupt me (since then I’ve done a lot of maturing in Christ 😉). I had this look on my face and attitude that totally didn’t reflect what I was doing. One day, the Holy Spirit revealed to me how quick I was able to step out of grace and into unholy feelings, and that instead of putting that out there and acting like I was the only one holy enough to pray or worship, I should invite them to join me. There was rejection I’m doing so, and then one day there wasn’t from one person and really if only one, that’s enough for heaven to celebrate. Today, I encourage you that If there’s ever an interruption in the middle of your prayer, worship or bible reading you have extend that gift to that person, because it might just be a heavenly interruption, it might just be that that person was suppose to walk in on something that could absolutely change their lives.

Lord, please forgive me for my foolishness, forgive me when I think that I am right when I am wrong. Forgive .e because sometimes I interfere with your heavenly set ups. Lord I humble .myself before you and as you have shown me grace through out my life, I ask that you show me how to show that grave towards others. In Jesus name Amen.

When HE’S First…

Matthew 6:33
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

My soul is well when I put God first.
My spirit is at peace when I put God first.
My life has order and meaning when I put God first.
My heart is full of love when I put God first.
My thoughts are full of promise when I put God first.
My mind is clear when I put God first.

My prayers have answers when I put God first.

My life is eternal when I put God first

He loves you, even now…

John 16:7
But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

1John 4:18
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Romans 8:35
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Psalms 31:7
I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul.

You don’t have to be perfect to come before God. Think about it, He created you, He knows you, He knows what you’re thinking before you do, so God knows what your trespasses are. God tells us that He sent his only son to die on the cross for us because He loved us, despite of our sinful nature. He made us, He knows us. He knows that troubles are going to come, temptations are going to come, sadness, anger, all that stuff that will try to separate us from the Love of God. BUT, His Grace, yes! His grace is sufficient. Not only does He know that we’re going to have troubles but He has ever so masterfully orchestrated a way out for us. The Holy Spirit was left to us after Jesus ascended, to be our helper. As believers we have really one place to go when all seems to go wrong and that is to the secret place where we can freely, without judgment or condemnation call in the Holy Spirit, our Helper. Time and time again the Lord tells us to call on Him, to open the door and He will dine with us, to seek Him. Let our spirits not be troubled but pray without ceasing. The only thing we need to bring to Him is our heart and our willingness.
Father, thank you so much for being so patient with me. When I forget how graceful and loving you are, I alone condemn myself forgetting how forgiving you are. Lord, I bring it all to you…all that stops me from calling on your name, all that stops me from opening the door, all that stops me from seeking you. Here I am, forgive me. Rescue me from myself and restore me, purify me. I love you, I trust you. In Jesus name. Amen.

Stop and be…

Psalms 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Matthew 17:20
He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1

Ever feel like you’re going in circles? Or like you’re stuck? You pray, pray, pray and then pray some more and nothing? You are a good church going believer and you do all that you know what to do but still, nothing. Maybe you’re doing too much. Yes, too much. Maybe it’s a season for staying still, maybe you’re not suppose to go get what you need, maybe God wants to show you that He can bring it to you. Sometimes we think that were helping God with whatever it is were in need of or striving for in this life and really all were doing is being intrusive of His plans, because well, He knows the plans! Sometimes we act like God needs our help but in reality sometimes all he needs from us is to stay still, stay put and let our faith be what moves Him into our lives to bring those miracles and prayers into existence. This world as it is already distracts us so much from listening to Him when He speaks to us, because He does, everyday, all day. We’re so busy doing and saying and asking and praying and going, we forget that God moves on simple faith, faith as small as a mustard seed, something so small can move mountains, Jesus words not mine. Let’s not pray any longer as if we’re in desperate need but pray with faith that whatever we need has already been provided and instead of having mournful prayers let’s give Him praise for the things we cannot see but with the assurance that it has been provided to us. He knows. Trust Him. So then, if you feel like you think you’ve tried everything and you’re still in a place of uncertainty, stop, stay still and let you faith be what moves you forward into God’s will.

Father, precious, wonderful, father. I’m sorry if I’m doing too much, if I’m missing out on your plans for me because I won’t stay still. Lord, help to stay put, to continue to serve you and please you with every area of my life, but to also stay still so that I’m able to listen to the whisper of your promises. Lord, today I take a deep breath and hand over anything that I’ve tried to control on my own, knowing that you very well know the plans that you have for me and my future. What an amazing God you are. Thank you for allowing to always run to you even when I’ve made mistakes. Lord give me that peace that surpasses all understanding so that I may stay still while you work on the details behind the scenes. I trust you. I trust you. I trust you. In Jesus name Amen.
