The Truth will…

The truth will set you free.
Who’s truth though? And what exactly is the truth?
If you are a person of faith and believe in God and that He sent His only son Jesus to die on the cross for us, then you know that’s part of the truth. What’s the other part? Well… the rest of the word of God, of course!
I find myself sometimes scrolling through social media coming across posts with photos or paintings of Jesus and stories attached to them about the origin or simply someone writing about the “truth” of what that photo or painting means. I’ll give you an example, there was a post of a very famous painting of Jesus and next to an unknown young man who resembled the Jesus painting very much, the post/blog read, that the photo was painted by Michael Angelo, the man on the painting was Tomasso and it stated that he was also his lover. It continued to say that Michael Angelo painted that portrait of Jesus in the likeness of Tomasso and then the Catholic Church adopted that painting and everyone has been praying to this painting of this man. That was pretty much the summary and the point the writer/believer wanted to get across. When I read that I felt I needed to do more research, I went in with an open mind that that information could be right. What I found was that it wasn’t, that painting was not made in the likeness of Tomasso and Michael Angelo didn’t paint it. Included in that post/blog it was mentioned that both these individuals were lovers, something God would be against. There’s a lot more information out there if you would like to keep reading more about this. The point I’m trying to make is this, we represent a God of truth, complete, utter, pure as can be, God of truth.
Before we speak, we must always include the Holy Spirit, we must ask for wisdom and guidance, we must pray, fast, research, read the Bible and let God be the one to consume you with his truth. The slightest error, the most miniscule misinformation and miscommunication, the tiniest mistake can cause a ripple effect on many people who are trying to seek God and have a relationship with Him, it can cause a total non-believer to continue to live a life without Christ. Now, i don’t know it all, i don’t claim to be some scholar or expert on all things God, all I know is that God wants us to live in truth, to practice it and to teach it. Making the slightest change in anything is to plain lie even if your intentions are to get people saved. Distorting the truth or manipulating it into something that’s close to the truth but not the complete truth is just a plain lie and it’s not okay. We have a responsibility being God’s agents here on earth to speak only truth and to live by His truth, to abide in His truth and presence at all times without compromising ourselves or desperately resorting and inclining to manipulation by distortion of what the truth is. Finally, God by no means needs us to bend the truth for the sake of people’s salvation, we are here to place seeds of faith and encourage those who need it. Ultimately, God is the one who saves not us and He does it ever so eloquently and pure. God bless you.
